Clashes in Northern Kosovo in late May constituted the most serious episode of violence in Kosovo for over a decade. Dozens of international peacekeepers from KFOR were injured and the Serbian army was placed on high alert. The escalation was the result of continued unresolved tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, despite extensive mediation efforts by the EU and the United States. This panel will explore the causes of the violence, disentangling the complex dynamics of the rising tensions in recent months, as well as the future of relations and the potential (and limits) for normalisation between Serbia and Kosovo.
